Police name man they want to speak to about Grangetown stabbing as Arnel Martinez Raymondo.

South Wales Police investigating an serious assault in Grangetown have named a man they want to speak to in connection with the incident.

They tell Heart he's 47 year old Arnel Martinez Raymondo from the Roath area of the city.

The female victim of the assault is still in hospital in a serious condition.

Acting Superintendent Jim Hall from Cardiff Bay police station said: "We are very keen to contact Mr Raymondo and ask him to get in touch with is as a matter of urgency.

"I want to reassure the public that this was an isolated incident and there is no wider danger to the general public.

"Anyone with any information concerning this incident is asked to call 999 immediately."

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at approximately 10.35am this morning, Friday 12 June, to an incident on Penarth Road in Cardiff.

We sent two rapid response cars, an emergency ambulance and a Wales Air Ambulance to the scene.

A woman has been taken by land ambulance to the University Hospital of Wales with serious injuries."
