Lakers coach reveals Shaquille ONeal once showed up to practice naked

Shaquille O'Neal loves a good practical joke, and his former Lakers coach Phil Jackson revealed on Monday night just how far the basketball great will go to get a laugh.

Phil Jackson was in New York City for an American Express event where he spoke with ESPN's Hannah Storm about some of his most memorable coaching moments, and shared a story about the day O'Neal showed up to practice nude.

'Well, you know, numbers of times, he could crack a team up with humorous effects on the floor,' Jackson told Storm.

'There were times when he shocked us all in a practice situation, especially when he showed up nude with just his shoes on.'

O'Neal, who was appearing alongside Jackson at the event, simply smiled and said: 'I don't remember.'

O'Neal, who wears a size 23 shoe, has been known to play nude practical jokes in the past, and another former coach, Alvin Gentry, revealed in an interview with Sports Illustrated that he would tackle teammates in the buff while in the locker room when he played for the Phoenix Suns.

'The thing that he did that he got to be notorious for is that, every few days or every week or so, he would decide that it was time for this Brazilian naked wrestling contest,' said Gentry.

'You would never know who the chosen one was, but what would happen when you least expect it, this 7-foot, 310-pound guy would turn the corner, and he would be stark naked and he would run right at you full speed, grab you, he would take you to the floor and then he would do about five rollovers with you.

'And he would always tell our trainers who it was going to be, so they were always prepared for it, but you never knew who it was going to be.'

Gentry said that even he was a victim of these nude attacks, joking: 'I had to go to therapy a bit after that.'

There has frequently been talk about the size of O'Neal's manhood, given his height, and Bravo host Andy Cohen decided to ask him point black about just how big he is in a 2014 interview.

'Your shoe size is 23, how big is your dick?' asked Cohen.

O'Neal looked at Cohen stunned, and the host covered his face while fellow guest Josh Lucas started laughing and said: 'I love this show.'

The basketball star then smiled and said 'hold on' before taking off his shoe and holding it up against his thigh, telling Cohen: 'Let me show you.'

O'Neal retired from basketball in 2011 after a career that last almost 20 years and began with the Orlando Magic and ended with the Boston Celtics.

He was voted into the Basketball Hall of Fame earlier this year.
