Leave it up to Chael Sonnen to test all the unchartered waters around any topic and come up with a completely distinct viewpoint on the matter. In his most recent video, he addressed a highly contentious subject and made a bold claim. The seasoned UFC fighter discussed the controversial ‘Khabib slapping Artem‘ incident and said it never ever occurred in that manner. Sonnen believes Conor McGregor was being a loyal friend, but the situation wasn’t that extreme to begin with.
The UFC veteran suggests that the ‘slap’, which originated the UFC’s biggest rivalry, was actually a “hello”.
Chael Sonnen believes Conor McGregor
In his latest YouTube video, Chael Sonnen provided some insight into the infamous dispute between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Artem Lobov. Sonnen recalled the conflict and claimed that Conor McGregor‘s ex-teammate was, in fact, not slapped by ‘The Eagle’. “Conor loaded up a jumbo jet in Ireland and flew in. He was so loyal to his friend, who was slapped. That was Artem. Which, by the way… I don’t think Khabib slapped him. I think Khabib said ‘hello’ to him.” said Sonnen.
Sonnen further weighed into his claim with an explanation, saying, “It’s not the contact, it’s how long you leave the hand there.” He then added, “Slap is instant. But the removal of slap is instant (too). Khabib put his hand there, but he kept it there. He was looking him (Artem) in the eye like he was trying to talk to him.”
The 45-year-old eventually rounded up the word by concluding with his firm take, “It’s different. In my opinion, it is not a slap if it stays there.” Slap or not, the incident definitely gave birth to the biggest rivalry in the history of the UFC, which is between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Artem Lobov refused a million dollars from McGregor
In an interview with talkSPORT, Lobov went into great detail about the whole ‘Proper Twelve’ matter. Artem Lobov claimed that ‘Proper Twelve’ was originally his brainchild, and that he put in the work to make the whiskey brand what it is today. Additionally, Lobov said that McGregor had given him a reward of $1 million, but that he had turned it down.
Furthermore, Lobov plans to publish an autobiography in which he would discuss the genesis of ‘Proper Twelve’ in great detail. He wants to publicly share his version of the events involving the whiskey company.
